Rum and food pairing is an art not a science

Rhum and Dark Chocolate

A classic pairing. Works well after a good meal.  It is sometimes followed by the perfect cigar and rhum tasting. This all makes perfect sense as sugarcane, cocoa and tobacco are all tropical species they share similar soil and climate. The end products have the same or similar geographic roots.

Rhum and French Cheese

Rum and cheese is another classic pairing. It works pretty well when serving rum before a meal. Various cheese can be paired with French Rhum including goat cheese. As opposed to chocolate, rum and cheese are like pairing the opposites. Strong drinks from tropical countries with subtle and soft dairy products from France. It is certainly very effective.

Rhum with other food and snacks

We found a number of other food combinations some obvious, other rather odd. We leave to the reader the decision to try them or not.
Parma ham and dry sausages (saucisson) are certainly worth trying. A variety of nuts may also work well with rhum.
Sushis and Pizzas are certainly a lot more exotic when it comes to matching rhum and food.

Bon Appetit!
